April Fool's Day

ISBN-13:9780143004608

In the end, love is more important than everything and it will conquer and overcome anything. Or that's how Damon saw it, anyway. Damon wanted a book that talked a lot about love.

Damon Courtenay died on the morning of April Fool's Day. In this tribute to his son, Bryce Courtenay lays bare the suffering behind this young man's life. Damon's story is one of lifelong struggle, his love for Celeste, the compassion of family, and a fight to the end for integrity.

A testimony to the power of love, April Fool's Day is also about understanding: how when we confront our worst, we can become our best.

This life-affirming book will change the way you think.

I hesitated reading April Fool's Day, as I discovered you were writing about your son. I had to inhale & exhale at every page, especially near the end of the book. I have to agree with other fellow readers, I laughed & I cried, especially seeing the photoes imbedded into the book. I can't believe how strong you are to write that book on your son's behalf. Love for your son was written from page to page. You are truly amazing. God bless you.

This is the most amazing book I have ever read. This book will stay in my mind forever. I cried, I laughed and I cried again. I felt the heart ache of Bryce and his family when Damon finally passed away. Damon is a role model and has made me look at things and people differently. Also he has made me look at my own life differently. Instead of seeing negatives, being able to turn them into positives. Celeste is truely a remarkable woman. I am a avid reader of Bryce Courtenay's books and this one has touched me like no other. Probably because it truely came from Bryce's heart. This book will remain the centre and most treasured of my collection of Bryce Courtenay books. Thank you Bryce and thank you Damon.

Great book with a powerful meaning behind the story and characters that are bought to life by the method of writing used by the author, Bryce Courtenay.

This book moved me in ways that I did not expect. Mr Courtenay is so honest with his words, that at times I was horrified, angry, overjoyed or sad in a way that I never could have predicted I would or should be. I will read and re-read this book and intend for my children also to do so when they are old enough.

An amazing book, I highly recommend it to everyone. I read it more than 2 years ago and it still gives me shivers just thinking about it.
